
Innovation Market Specialist
The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association aims to transform tomorrow’s medicine through our discoveries of today. At locations in Berlin-Buch, Berlin-Mitte, Heidelberg and Mannheim, our researchers harness interdisciplinary collaboration to decipher the complexities of disease at the systems level – from molecules and cells to organs and the entire organism. Through academic, clinical, and industry partnerships, as well as global networks, we strive to translate biological discoveries into applications that enable the early detection of deviations from health, personalize treatment, and ultimately prevent disease. We are 90 percent funded by the German federal government and 10 percent by the state of Berlin.
We are seeking a dynamic professional with a background in life sciences and an MBA to join our I&E team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of biomedical innovation by driving strategic initiatives that support technology commercialization and entrepreneurial ventures.
Job Description
As an Innovation Market Specialist, you will be part of a team of innovation managers and patent specialists, with the following specific responsibilities:
- Market Analysis: Conduct detailed market analyses for prioritized projects to assess commercial viability and potential. Monitor and evaluate market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities within the biomedical sector.
- Strategic Pitch Decks: Together with the inventors, create compelling and data-driven pitch decks to effectively communicate project value propositions to stakeholders.
- Target Group Identification: Identify and segment target groups for biomedical innovations, ensuring alignment with commercialization strategies.
- Funding Partner Identification: Identify suitable funding opportunities from investors, venture capitalists, and funding organizations to support spin-off projects.
- Business Plan Development: Create business plans for prioritized projects and define the optimal strategies moving forward, including licensing agreements or spin-offs. Negotiate and support licensing agreements to maximize value creation.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- An MBA with a focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, or business strategy.
- Preferably, experience in market analysis, business development, or technology commercialization within the life sciences sector.
- Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex scientific information into compelling business narratives.
- A passion for translating scientific breakthroughs into impactful products and services.
- Good command of the English language
